Introduced by Google, the ‘hreflang’ tag or ‘language tag’ is a code that allows your website to be indexed for a particular language or geodetic location. It tells search engine about the language you are using on your pages so that the people searching for result in that language will find you.
For example, if you have pages or articles on blog that are written on a specified language like French, Spanish, Nepali, etc. then use of hreflang tag will allow your site to be ranked for people who search a particular topic in that language or who live in that country. It helps you to reach geo-targeted audience in your territory or region. They can cause a version of website rank higher by defeating few of its SEO ranking factors.
